Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Roberts belongs to four generations of the Robertses who reside in the Atlanta area beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was enthusiastic about theatre from a very young stage. While he was a pupil at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he took part in many shows. He joined the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a show together with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, they got married and in 1956 their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter along with his wife quit their Air Force service in the year 1957 after which they began enrolment with Walter at Tulane University. Walter was employed to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of a Sunday morning children's show, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In the following year, they established the Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for a period of six years. They had two more children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also also known by the name Julie).
